1 Corinthians 12:27-31 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way.
When we receive Yahshua as Lord and Savior, All of us are given at least one or more gifts of the Spirit. However as an example; If a person has the gifts of Prophecy or Wisdom, does that make him or her a Prophet? It can but often that’s not the case.
All True followers of Christ are given the Baptism and or Anointing of “The Holy Spirit”. A select few are singled out, And Anointed to serve as leadership in the Body of Christ.
All positions of leadership in the Five Fold Ministries, Are ordained by Our Lord and God, And represent a second event.
The Five Fold Ministries
Ephesians 4:11-13 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
An example of this is when God called out the Prophet Ezekiel. Ezekiel 2:7 But you shall speak My words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious. Or God telling Elijah the Prophet to Anoint Elisha into the office of Prophet. Elisha was already Anointed with the Holy Spirit, so this is a second event of him being Anointed as a Prophet of God. 1 Kings 19:15-16 The Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived, you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram; and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.
So as you can clearly see there are two types of Anointment’s, Two distinct events provided by the Holy Spirit. One that is given in measure to everyone that receives Jesus as Lord, And one that is only given to a select few, According to the will and purpose Of The Father.
Acts 20:27-28 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. Ephesians 4:7-8 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.” Romans 12:6-8 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
More Scripture on the Anointing
Matthew 3:16-17 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
Looking at Elijah’s life and ministry, It provides us some idea of the level of anointing Elijah had, when he came upon the biblical stage in book of 1 Kings and it was said that “He stands before the Lord.”
1 Kings 17:1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”
To stand before the Lord is a quality to seek with all our Body, Spirit and Soul.
We should be able to stand before the Lord before we stand before anyone else. When we as followers of Jesus seek the same level of Anointing Elijah possessed, And receive it. You can Spiritually enter the Holy of Holies, And stand in the very presence of the Lord your God. Your cup will surly overflow.
Hebrews 10:19-25 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Deuteronomy 29:10-13 “You stand today, all of you, before the Lord your God: your chiefs, your tribes, your elders and your officers, even all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives, and the alien who is within your camps, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water, that you may enter into the covenant with the Lord your God, and into His oath which the Lord your God is making with you today, in order that He may establish you today as His people and that He may be your God, just as He spoke to you and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Amen
Psalm 23:5 “Yahshua” You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.
